+ Glenfiddich is one of only a handful of malt whisky distilleries, founded over a century ago during the 'whisky boom' of the late 19th century and which have managed to survive until this day. The Glenfiddich 18yr Old expression is a vatted marriage of casks that previously held fine Spanish Oloroso Sherry and Ex-Bourbon Barrels. On the nose intricate details of dark grassy maltiness, raisin bread, vanilla butterscotch, cocoa, with some oak lingering in the far background. A sip reveals an almost gingery spiciness, pepper corns, dried rosemary, citrus peel, and sensuously dark chocolate truffles. A balanced medium bodied sensation of freshly baked gingerbread, and a distant cloud of bonfire smoke fading away into the shadows of a fairly long and drying finish.
